CJLA Girls Story: Melanie Lopez

Melanie Lopez has been a CJLA Girl for years and we are so excited to share some of her story with you today. Melanie is a busy, hardworking wife and mama and we are so grateful that she took some time to tell us all a little bit more about her experience with CJLA. Enjoy reading her full interview below!

CJLA: Tell us a little bit about yourself!

MELANIE: Hey!  I'm Melanie!  I am originally from Northern California but now I live in sunny San Diego with my husband and our two children. I have a 5 year old girl and a 12 year old boy.  Before we moved to SD I was doing interior design and now I do makeup on Instagram for a living.  I absolutely love it and it allows me to be home with the kids.  Helping other feel more confident in themselves by using a little bit of makeup makes me so happy!

CJLA: How did you find CJLA? 

MELANIE: I found out about CJLA about 4 years ago right after I had my daughter.  My friend Cynthia Harper had shown a pair of booties on her insta page and I fell in love immediately when I saw the CJLA page. I don't think a month has gone by since then that I haven't ordered something!

CJLA: Carly Jean Los Angeles is more than clothes, it’s a community! Why do you love being a member of the CJLA community?

MELANIE: Being a part of this community has introduced me to so many incredible women, friends and customers.  Some of my closest friends right now I actually met through the #cjlagirls hashtag! I haven't met them all in person but I'm so grateful to have met them through this community.  I think its amazing that they have girls of all body types trying on the clothes as well. It is so helpful.

CJLA: What are your three all-time favorite CJLA capsule pieces? 

MELANIE: The Chrissy Jeans!! I also get a lot of wear out of my striped basic tank.  My other fave is the striped Taylor shirt. They are all such timeless pieces that I'm constantly getting asked about.

CJLA: Why does the capsule concept work for you and your lifestyle?

MELANIE: Comfort in my number one priority since becoming an adult. LOL. So everything from CJLA fits the bill.  I also have days where I need to look more professional when I do makeovers and I love that I can jazz up the basic pieces with some jewelry and different shoes.

CJLA: How has having a capsule wardrobe helped to simplify your life?

MELANIE: It has honestly given me more confidence.  I always love my outfit which makes me feel good all around.  I also don't have a ton of time in the morning so I love that I can just throw on a few pieces and they all just work together.  This gives me more time to focus on my business and my family.  My closet is no longer overwhelming to me.

CJLA: What is your favorite CJLA piece to style?

MELANIE: I would have to say any of the hats. They just instantly amp up any basic outfit. I don't always like to wear jewelry so I just replace it with a hat.  You instantly look put together and great for days you don't have time to wash your hair.  I also love that they actually stay on your head when its windy!

CJLA: If you had to describe CJLA to a friend using only three words what would they be?

MELANIE: Timeless, fun and sweet!
