CJLA Girls Stories: Mandy Torgerson

Hey CJLA Girls! We've got a really fun interview to share with you this week. We recently had the pleasure of chatting with CJLA girl Mandy Torgerson. Mandy is a busy mom, wife and active volunteer in her community and we're so excited to share her story with you. Read the interview below to learn more about Mandy and her CJLA capsule!

CJLA: Tell us about yourself!

MANDY: Hi! I am Mandy Torgerson and I live in northern Virginia, just outside of DC. I am married (we just celebrated 15 years) and we have three boys ages 12,10 and 7. I have been a stay at home mom since my 12 year old was born but I also serve as the Secretary of the Board of Directors at our church. I am the Missions Lay Leader and help advocate on behalf of the hungry, both in our local area and abroad in Haiti where we partner with World Vision. I volunteer on the social media team for church as well and help at my kids school when the need arises. I joke that I am a professional volunteer, but honestly, I find such joy in doing what I can to help others-- the needs of mothers and women hold a special place in my heart.

CJLA: How did you find CJLA?

MANDY: I follow Candace Cameron Bure and she has always spoken so highly of CJLA. So, when I finally managed to lose the extra baby weight (can you still call it that after 12 years?!) and needed new clothes I knew exactly where I wanted to shop!

CJLA: CJLA is more than clothes, it's a community! Why do you love being a member of the CJLA community?

MANDY: I love being part of CJLA BECAUSE of the community. Women lifting up women. Daily encouragement. Learning new ways to feel confident and look put together. I have made new friends from afar and found such joy in those relationships as they extend beyond clothes.

CJLA: What are your three all-time favorite CJLA capsule pieces?

MANDY: My all-time three favorite pieces are the Sailor Kimono, Hunter Jacket and Kenny Jeans.

CJLA: Why does the capsule concept work for you and your lifestyle?

MANDY: I was new to the capsule concept when I started with CJLA a little over a year ago. But, as it turns out, it's something I had always craved but wasn't able to put words to or accomplish on my own. As a mom with responsibilities that range from work in the home to board meetings at church, the capsule wardrobe easily takes me from house to meetings.

CJLA: How has having a capsule wardrobe helped to simplify your life?

MANDY: My husband was one of the first to notice how I didn't get depressed trying to find something to wear. Sometimes I would spiral downward and empty my closet trying to find an outfit and would wind up arriving incredibly late to places. With a capsule wardrobe I pull on jeans I love and grab a top and a layer-- according to my mood and the weather-- and I'm done! Cute, stylish, pulled together and comfortable!

CJLA: What is your favorite CJLA piece to style?

MANDY: I love styling the CJ's Favorite Boyfriend Tee because it works so many ways!

CJLA: If you had to describe CJLA to a friend using only three words what would they be?

MANDY: CJLA is encouraging, intentional and comfortable.
