CJLA Girls Story: Danielle Duncan

Hey CJLA Girls! It's Wednesday which means we have another CJLA Girls Story to share with you. We are excited to share Danielle Duncan's CJLA Story on the blog today! Learn more about Danielle's capsule, her lifestyle and why she loves CJLA by reading the full interview below.

CJLA: Tell us a little bit about yourself?

DANIELLE:  Hi! My name is Danielle Duncan and I live in South Florida with my husband John. We currently do not have any children but are still praying and have recently begun the journey into Foster Care! We hope to be finished getting our license and welcome children into our home by the fall. I have worked as a wardrobe stylist for about ten years... both privately and in the corporate world for Ralph Lauren for many years. I now work on my own as a personal stylist and have been actively (as I put it) utilizing the fashion industry to fight poverty and human trafficking since 2009.

CJLA: How did you discover CJLA?

DANIELLE: I found out about CJLA from Instagram! I believe it was from a friend from high school of Carly's who posted about her. Also, when Candace Cameron Bure and Andrea Barber built their capsule wardrobes with CJLA a few years ago!

CJLA: Carly Jean Los Angeles is more than clothes, it's a community! Why do you love being a member of the CJLA community?

DANIELLE: I absolutely love the CJLA community because the women at headquarters set such an example of partnership, beauty, community and love for everyone. It flows down into their followers who are always so kind and supportive to one another. I think sharing each other's outfits and stories has kept everyone excited to share. Each woman is unique and just wants to feel beautiful in the body that God has given them. CJLA is a piece of that puzzle in the life of each one of it's community members.

CJLA: What are your three all-time favorite CJLA capsule pieces?

DANIELLE: My three all-time favorites?! Oh that's tough to choose! OK, so I travel a ton (pre-COVID) but I love the Danny Jeans, Carson Top and any jumpsuit like the Brenner and Erica! CJLA clothes are the easiest to pull together to look cute, feel comfortable and travel well in.

CJLA: Why does the capsule concept work so well for you and your lifestyle?

DANIELLE: The capsule concept works for me for a couple reasons. As I began to dig deeper into fast fashion, I realized how harmful it was to individuals working in other countries-- not only with work slavery but also because of harmful chemicals. I began to search for ethically made pieces and stopped buying fast fashion items to fill my closet. I began searching for things that could last longer and mix and match together in order to limit my consumption of super trendy things. CJLA has helped with that as the pieces I purchase are affordable and the quality and fit are amazing! Also, the capsule wardrobe works for me because I do not "go in" to work every day so working from home and working with clients is much different. I can work from home comfortable and go out to meet a client in my CJLA pieces and still look cute!

CJLA: What is your favorite CJLA capsule piece to style?

DANIELLE: My favorite CJLA piece to style has been the Holly Dress or the Everyday Dress. I love both and it was fun to come up with many things to wear with them!

CJLA: If you had to describe CJLA to a friend using only three words what would they be?

DANIELLE: I tell everyone I can about CJLA! So the three words I use most are cute, comfortable and affordable. Everyone will feel not only put together but will leave people asking "where did you get that, I want to buy it too!"
