CJLA Girls Stories: Melissa & Emma Norton

Hi CJLA Girls! We had the great joy of chatting with the sweetest mother-daughter-duo! Melissa (the mama) and Emma (the daughter) own Blush&Brush-- a beauty business! They do makeup and hairstyling for weddings, events, proms and photoshoots. They love to encourage mother-daughter relationships and strive to help women of all ages feel beautiful and comfortable in their own skin. CJLA: Tell us about yourselves!

MELISSA: Hello, ladies! My names is Melissa and I am 46 years old. I've been married to my high school sweetheart for 26 years and I am a stay at home wife and mama of three (Emma Grace is my "baby.") I currently serve in premarital ministry at church with my husband. I love to decorate, organize, shop, host dinners and holiday celebrations, cook fresh simple meals, go on long walks and spend time with my family (preferably at the beach)!

EMMA: Hi! My name is Emma and I am 17 years old. I am in my junior year of high school and mainly take online college courses. I love playing volleyball, softball and piano. I also have a part-time job nannying for the cutest kids. Someday I would love to be a wife and mama! I plan on attending beauty school after I graduate to become a professional makeup/hair stylist.

CJLA: How did you ladies find CJLA?

MELISSA: I heard about CJLA from Carly back when we served at church together some 12+ years ago. I actually took my girls when they were 5 & 8 to her storefront that she used to have. We each picked out a CJLA piece and still have them today!

CJLA: CJLA is more than clothes, it's a community! Why do you two love being members of the CJLA community?

MELISSA & EMMA: CJLA is much more than clothes! We love being part of this community because of all of the ideas and inspiration that come from Carly and the team. Things like styling tips, yummy recipes, party ideas, home decor, lifestyle, etc.... Carly has always had an eye for all of these things and brings her God-given gift of hospitality to Instagram. She makes you feel at home. Plus, all of the girls on the CJLA team have the same values and provide such kind and caring customer service. Because of the vibe CJLA gives out, they attract those same kind of women as their customers and followers. It seems to be such a likeminded community, which we really appreciate.

CJLA: What are your three all-time favorite CJLA capsule pieces?

MELISSA: The Sailor, Hudson Jeans and CJ's Regular Length Tees.

CJLA: Why does the capsule concept work so well for you and your lifestyles?

MELISSA & EMMA: The capsule clothing concept works for our lifestyle because we do school and also run our beauty business from home, so we love being in cozy clothes that help us to look and feel put together. Whether we are filming a demo on Instagram stories, going on a hike, making a "quick" Target run, meeting a friend for lunch or headed to a special occasion we are ready for anything the day holds when we are wearing our CJLA pieces.

CJLA: How has having a capsule wardrobe helped to simplify your lives?

MELISSA & EMMA: Capsule clothing has helped to simplify our lives by making it quick and easy to mix and match so many different pieces in order to create a variety of different looks. Not only that, but even as mother and daughter we can and do share most of our CJLA clothing and accessories.

CJLA: What is your favorite CJLA piece to style?

MELISSA: The black Stella dress.

EMMA: Any Sloan dress!

MELISSA & EMMA: Both can be worn by themselves, with a denim jacket or any other shirt/sweater over the top. Just by changing up our shoes, hats and accessories we can really dress those pieces up or down so easily.

CJLA: If you had to describe CJLA to a friend using only three words what would they be?

MELISSA & EMMA: Comfortable, timeless, stylish.
