Throwback: Baby Owen's Shower

Here's a few pics from a shower I hosted with some friends this past weekend for my friend Merilly and her new baby boy Owen Duke =)
I racked my brain trying to think of a new unique center piece that I hadn't seen a million times. And of course 24 hrs before the party these hurricanes with sod thingamado's came to mind! I bought a 5 foot piece of sod, at Home Depot for $2.19!! Cut it into 6 inch circles, pressed them firmly to the bottom with a splash of water.
The little animals were found at Target for a dollar a piece =) and easy signs on skewers added some fun detail! There are so many other cool things you could do with these sod filled hurricanes!! Twigs, butterflies, mushrooms, bugs, candles...oh the options are endless!
There was some yummy food too, recipes will be coming soon!
